Quality ControlHow the Outsourcing Network Handles Quality Control: Achieving consistent quality is the number one concern for companies thinking about making products in China. This is the multi-level quality control system ONet has implemented to achieve this objective. The First Level - The U.S. ONet staff: Step one: When ONet receives an RFQ, we discuss the project with both the client's engineers and the quality people. We do this to learn what is expected from our customer's point of view, rather than guessing what we think they require. Step two: When possible, we get three sets of golden samples showing both the maximum and minimum acceptable samples for flatness, finish, etc. This eliminates any question of what is expected on the part of the vendor from a cosmetic standpoint. Step three: If there is complicated assembly work, we would have a process engineer to document the assembly \ procedure. In this way, we can capture any tribal knowledge that didn't make it to the assembly instructions. Step four: We would develop a detailed packaging plan so this is not left open to chance. Step five: With complicated projects, it is not uncommon for our project manager to go to China with our client to oversee the launch of the project. This is done so our client will have the assurance that everything is on track and there will be no surprises. The Second Level - The vendor: First, we don't use any vendor until they have passed a comprehensive quality audit by our U.S staff. ONet insures that the quality control standards of the vendors we use are as stringent as those in U.S ISO or QS 9000 plants. We also visit our vendors periodically to insure their quality standards are maintained. We believe the more we discuss quality with our vendors, the more serious they take QC when doing work for our customers. Secondly, we get copies of all material certs and QC process reports when a project is in production. We make these reports available to our clients. Thirdly, when a first article sample is completed, and / or a new production run is started, we ask for pictures of the samples and copies of the QC reports to be sent product is sent which we forward to our customer. If any questions develop, we try and settle them before the samples are sent to save the time of shipping the samples to and from the U.S. The Third Level - The ONet staff in China: Besides the QC reports we receive from our vendors, our representatives in China inspect first article samples and perform "in-process inspections" during production runs. The Fourth Level - Third party inspection: On jobs with particularly demanding specs, or complicated assemblies, ONet might use a third party inspection company to insure everything is made according to the documented standards of our customer. ONet understands our client relationship begins and ends with the quality we deliver. This is why our flexible multi-tiered quality control system is as strong as any in the business. Our compulsion for quality is your insurance policy of success.
